The gods are smiling on you sir
What a fantastic fish, at this rate are we going to see an 8 pounder by February ?
Thanks Silfield,
I think they are, but I have scouted around and put the time into it. Probably more walking than fishing if I'm honest.
I know there's eights in these waters. I thought my recent PB of 7lb 3oz would take a long time to beat, so when this chub rolled into the net I was overwhelmed and very surprised. But to get an 8 would be marvellous

Thank you all for your comments.
The Chapmans rod is a joy to use, I do like a through action rod and this one for chub fishing has never let me down.

I think maybe you should stick to the rod you're using, it seems gifted. But I'm sure you played your part too
The fish of 99% of anglers dreams, a brilliant catch.

Congratulations!
Luck doesn't enter into it.
After eight swims without a bite, I should have given up.
You carry on to ninth, worm your way into a jungle, drop a bait exactly where it is right.
You fully deserve the rewards for your determination and persistence.

I don't know what the record is for the chub as I'm not really interested in such, but, the way you are going it could be a possibility, just imaging the record chub on a Chapman 500 and a Mitchell 300, now that would be something. No pressure of course.
Thanks
