Haydn doesn't come here much BL, but you can find him on The Path forum, or I can pass a message on to him for you gladly.

It will come to no surprise for you to hear he is a cabinet maker and furniture restorer. When he first restored a rod he sort of jumped 5 or 6 years compared to the rest of us and had soon invented his own drying cabinet and 'pouring' method, as opposed to dipping when varnishing.

Hello Haydn, or anyone else if he doesn't visit often, that is a VERY lovely finish. Do we know what varnish/finishing technique was used please?

Haydn used Mylands No8 polyeurethane varnish I believe, and he pours it onto a rotating rod below which is a system to recover the excess varnish.
Maybe this is a system used in furniture manufacture but it was new to me!
