He's certainly a interesting rod maker. I've got probably 4/5 now and all are interesting rods to fish with. I think they all have unusal tapers i.e. step-down in the Tapers. Certainly the 2 R.Sealey "Festivals" do, "Festival Avon" and the "Tudor Supreme" all do.

Well made rods which annoyingly now are getting a following. So there go the bargains on Ebay :-(

I bought myself one of these from eBay, it was to cheer me up after chris lythe told me the length of the waiting list, totally fell in love with mine, I love the way it feels, it's more like a pop than an aerial, I always get the feeling I'm holding an expensive clock rather than a fishing reel. A bargain at £254.

"NEW" Toy A 7950-T10 with the drum rim bound in nickel-silver. Very flashy :-). Can't wait to get some line on her and down the river.

Has it been re-finished by someone? The rim and acid-etching look as though they might be recent.

Nope I don't believe so Nobby, it's the black lead paint finish. Just not been used much, whoever ordered it must have been careful...must have cost a bomb to have the rim bound? I've got a couple of this model with polished rims and I'm 100% sure it's fine. I can't wait to get some line on it and get it down the river.

As a general rule I don't buy refurbished reels, depends what they have had done really. I have one with a replacement foot which I have the original foot which was filed and one or two Coxons which have had the spokes tweaked by Gary Mills to improve the spin. I will do it myself but he's far far more experienced and confident at tweaking them.

I will occasionally get a additional hole tapped into a Aerials backplate to move a line guard for left hand wind. I'm not confident enough to do that but one or two people will take it on. At my risk of course :-S could be a expensive request. Like a kid with a new toy at christmas.....might have to kick work into the long grass and go down the river now :-).

I'd not seen an Aerial with the rim built up like that before. Stunning reel.

You usually seen it on Roller-backs or "flashy" models as I term them. I've got couple with the poblished rims but I've been looking for one for years & years. Usually on ebonite drums.

This one in the Chiwick auction is bound in Nickle-silver....I'm tempted to bid but out of my league I fear. Roller-back Aerial.....silly money. I'd like to get my mits on it to use :-).
