I thought the Medina had screw reel fixings as per typical spinning rod or did they change them at some point.

Agreed. Just been to check mine, it has a screw fitting. I wonder if this could be a Burley pike rod? Difficult to tell as you can't see the rings or the tip clearly

My Burley has a screw-up reel fitting, mind you the last cane rods by nearly everybody had them in the early Seventies.

Maybe the handle has been replaced at some stage

Anything is possible, of course, but this rod looks 100% original and unrestored, apart from a chipped transfer.
I get the idea that screw-up reel seats became very popular in the last days of cane and an awful lot of rods seemed to get them fitted almost as a fashion assessory, including float rods.

Now that is a bargain.

To me, it looks as if that "DB 600" has been added later. All of the Dawson's rods I have seen have had the name printed, not written on. It looks as if there is/was something written below the Dawson's, although that may just be my eyesight. It has, as you say, the look of a Chapman. Certainly unusual for a Dawson's rod, not seen one before. May have been a one off customer order. Sorry I can't help.

Another goody, Hermes.
Same threaded butt cap and rubber button as the Stort? They look the same.
The reel bands are not Chapman, though.
Wow! Two good and desirable rods for sixty nicker and no fees!! Well done!
