Likewise, I am a little late to the party here but having had a waggle of the original Tengisgol rod I can wholeheartedly confirm it is one hell of a rod - well done in its acquisition, now you just need to have an angle - time waits for no man - it will be quicker than you think.

Congratulations! I’m absolutely sure you’ll love it.
I perhaps should mention I bought the Nottingham Barbel and Chub rod last year and although the rivers were out of sorts for a good part of the year on the occasions that I could use it it performed brilliantly.

I know this sounds like a plug for Andrew but it’s well deserved.

I’ve ordered a Chub/Barbel Nottingham, similar pattern to yours with a separate 24 inch butt section, only about 11ft to 11ft 3 inch, as I’m a short. A nickel silver collar and reel rings too. I’ll decide on the whipping colours nearer the time, but I quite fancy colours similar to the old Olivers, when they used some gold silks. I’ll peruse my new book One man One rod for some ideas. Dead excited 😆

Ello all,

This a bit of a "funny" Nottingham Style, it's the Chub & Barbel model but a little shorter than the standard rod, just by a few inches. The guides are lined. It's a very light rod considering the strength of the rod, you can happily hold it out of the rest for hours. The Wye was rather swollen for the summer. Both swims were a tad "pushing through" but the rod coped well. Although the last couple of barbel were a "challenge" in the flow. It helps having a large net head.
