The most precious places in the English landscape are those secretive corners,
where you find only elder trees, nettles and dreams. (BB - Denys Watkins-Pitchford).

Its a coarse rod Mark, you even commented on the thread ( http://www.traditionalfisherman.co.uk/v ... 8&start=10 ), likewise there is mention of an Avon Superb on there.

Now THAT might be the rod that came in two sections but was made in three for just one year.

Re: Allcocks Range of Rods
It is 2 piece and in the 1966 Allcock's Guide
" A235 The "Avon Superb" remarkable rod, with power to stop heavy chub and barbel in fast, weedy water, yet sensitive enough to register roach bites on ledger tackle. 2-joint built cane; large specially hardened metal rings; sliding reel fittings; rubber button and high grade partitioned bag. 10ft 207/- each + 34/6 P.Tax"
It is also in the 1967 Guide - where the description changes!
"2-joint built-cane, based on a classical design. 26" cork handle, with small sliding reel fittings and rubber button. Large chromed rings, crimson silk whippings, highest grade partitioned bag.Carefully calculated taper an a sensitive tip yo provide a fast-striking action for roach or dace fishing combined with sufficient power to master a 5lb chub"
A235 Weight 91/2 ox Length 10ft 184/7 inc P Tax
I am not sure which version I have - but almost as new. My 'CARPAVON" (one word) is "new for 1967" and has again not been used much if at all.
The 1966 Guide mentions "Carp Superb". Amongst the data it states -'Based on the highly successful Allcock 'New Superb' and the 'Lee Carp' ------ etc.
