Picked up today a rare Chapman The Carp.
Two piece 10ft 2in with the original bag and ferrule stopper,
Dark cane for a Chapman rod.

I was going to buy it ,but I just got a early chapman 550 with the copper whipping round the ferrels ,that rod you got was a steel ,well done chap :Thumb:

I agree. I think you have purchased an absolutely deligthful rod for a good price. Lets hope it gets some usage as intended.

As an aside, I picked up a Chapmans 'The Carp' in glass yesterday, have you seen many of those around?

That looks a rather fine piece of kit - anyone know how it compares to a Chapmans 550 which of course is around the same length but a three piece instead of this two piece. I recall reading many years ago that the best rods would be one piece but that 10feet and more was totally impractical hence rods were built in sections.

I must admit it has often baffled me why Chapmans built the 550 as a 3 piece and not a two piece.
