Caught this chap last week. Very dark green, very red eyes and in extremely good condition. Possibly the oldest tench I ever caught. Only 3.5lbs in weight but I imagine it has been in this particular lake all its life and been caught very few times. Caught on bread flake on the bottom. Hands up who thinks bread flake is just the most amazing bait....

I use bread flake for nearly all my Tench fishing, even when I can see them feeding on maggots, they just won't take maggots on the hook, change to bread and the invariably take it.

Apparently you can buy bread flake now from the carp gear companies for £10 per flake ......

They never speak to me rather, can't say I blame them, usually just stuck a hook in their lip.
