Aspindale's The "Threadline" No. 887.
I've been watching this rod (a model which I hadn't heard of prior to spotting it) for a week now, and I can now say I've just won it on a certain auction site.
It will be coming from Austria, and was listed in the vintage and the carp sections of the German E**y site!!! ... and will become my fourth Aspindale's rod.
It's an Aspindale's The "Threadline," a 2 piece, 10ft rod, what looks to be a 23 inch handle, and agate lined low bell guides throughout, whipped in 'wine' red.
I assume, therefore, it's Aspindale's take on the Hardy 'Wanless' rods designed for them by Alexander Wanless. It looks as though it will be a very handy margins carp rod.
If the condition when it arrives is as good as the photographs seem to suggest ... something of a rarity as I can find no reference to another after quite a few net searches. Either that ... or I've bought a 'pup' ... but the hand writing looks identical to that on my other three Aspindale's rods. Time will tell.

Wow Mal, that looks a nice rod. Lined rings throughout and those reel fittings look superb quality.
I have never heard of this model and I wonder if it was an export only model.

That could certainly explain the lack of information, Sir. I'm a tad excited at the moment !!!Wallys-Cast wrote:Wow Mal, that looks a nice rod. Lined rings throughout and those reel fittings look superb quality.

It looks genuine to me Mal, though the capital 'A' is different to any I have seen before.....
Another one to add to the album
