Allcocks aerialite

Post by Kingfisher »

I won this earlier and was hoping to use it with my AE Rudge rod when I've restored it but read somewhere after winning it that they are no good for trotting with (Which was why i wanted it) but good as a margin reel for bigger fish.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220992405133? ... _500wt_920

Any suggestions, as to a cheap trotting centrepin, around £30 would be good.

At £30 why not consider a Marco Cortesi jobbie?

Your reel will work Ok in a strong stream and you can always pay line out with your thumb anyway....

Thanks Nobby,

I was looking through the centrepins on ebay earlier and must admit the Marco Cortesi one jumped out at me for some reason. I still have a bit of my Birthday money left over so I may indulge in one.

Have you seen those new okuma centrepins with the hefty price tag and the strange colours? They look like my vision koma fly reel loaded with fly line...yuk!!!

It might be worth looking at the deluxe edition of the MC Kingfisher. It's a bit bigger on the diameter which makes it a little more versatile in my opinion as it gives it that bit faster retrieve when playing bigger fish.

Keep an eye open on Ebay for Trudex and Rapidex reel. They can be won for around £30 as long as you don't mind a few scratches and they make great trotting reels.

Thanks Chavender.

I looked tonight but they start at £40, so I'll just keep an eye out on ebay.

This last year i have put a TFG classic centrepin through its paces and can say it is a superb reel for the money. I thoroughly reccomend it if you cannot secure a Rapidex etc.
