Ambidex No. 1 (Type 4)

Here are a couple of pictures of my Ambidex No. 1 (Type 4) that I have for a few years now. This reel is in virtually mint condition, I don’t think it has ever been used. These reels were produced from 1954 to 1959 and were the last half bale arm Ambidex’s to be produced.
The Ambidex No.1 (type 4) retail price was £6. 2s. 6d.

That's beaut. I've a few of these but never it that sort of condition but I have never really got to terms with the half bail arm. Anyone actually use these?

I have another two No. 1's which I use to use on a regular basis but once your've used an Ambidex with a full bail arm there hard to go back to.

Agreed. I love the full bail arm versions. Maybe I'm not being traditional enough!

I like the little oil-port on the axle housing.
