Ledgering with an Octofloat

The Octofloat (as it's name presumably implies) was designed as a float rod with stand off rings but I wondered about using it as a ledger rod. Is there any disadvantage with stand off rings if ledgering with the Octofloat?

Not at all, it would make a lovely light leger rod. On a river for chub the tip would be sufficient indication. However, if you were going to fish anywhere near snags or for fish over three pounds or so it's time to step up to an Avon or Chapman 500. Hope that helps (I have two of them, lovely rods!).

It will be fine, just don't use more than a 1oz weight, and try to cast slowly and not at distance.
