Allcock Aerial - Model 7950-T10 (1932 - 1946)

Here are some pictures of my trusty 4” ventilated Allcock Aerial reel with rim mounted check lever, Model 7950-T10.

This was the only Aerial to have a rim type check lever instead of the backplate mounted check button type. It was also the only model to have a different number of ventilating holes due to its size. The 3” and 4” versions had ten ventilation holes while the 4½” version only had eight.

Stamped on the backplate with the stag logo, registration design number and half moon Allcock details.

I have been informed with good authority that my reel dates back to the late 1930’s and after 70 plus years I'm sure it works as good as the day it was made. It’s a dream to use and when playing a good size carp or barbel, the fishes power is not lost in a mass of gears.

Well that's rather nice. Haven't had a go on one of those yet! So, I have a wizard, you have that..... How about an excursion and letting them meet!!!! There's a nice bit I bailiff that's good for float fishing for barbel.....!

Thanks st.john, it is lovely reel to use, I even use it when I'm stalking carp sometimes, they do make it scream when they shoot off. It's my buzzer without the need for batteries. :chuckle:

They would most definitely complement each other and I would love them to meet one day. What part of our little island do you bailiff.

No SK, the Aerial Match is a model in it's own right, still made by the same manufacturer though.

From your poster it looks like the Model C340 the new Match Aerial built from 1965 to 1971. When these were first introduced in 1965 they would have cost five pounds twelve shillings. It wasn't until 1971 when we changed to decimal so this advert is post 1971.

So I'm in the T10 club too. Not long had this reel but I don't half like it. It's the 4 1/2" version and quite a big old beastie. It's had the Garry Mills treatment; new spindle and ratchet pawl and I've polished it upa a bit too, though it's still a bit of a battered old warhorse, which is exactly how I like it.
