This was the only Aerial to have a rim type check lever instead of the backplate mounted check button type. It was also the only model to have a different number of ventilating holes due to its size. The 3” and 4” versions had ten ventilation holes while the 4½” version only had eight.
Stamped on the backplate with the stag logo, registration design number and half moon Allcock details.
I have been informed with good authority that my reel dates back to the late 1930’s and after 70 plus years I'm sure it works as good as the day it was made. It’s a dream to use and when playing a good size carp or barbel, the fishes power is not lost in a mass of gears.
