The Redmire Dam

Post by The Sweetcorn Kid »

Without doubt, the most famous dam in carp fishing, leant on by countless legends and host to the most spectacular view in Carp fishing.

But what of its history? How many dams have there been. Which one are we on now?

I also remember seeing in a picture of Dick Kefford fishing the dam that there was a section of bank that had fallen away and no rail. Pehaps that was the reason for renewing the dam.

I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, that the dam was pretty much where you fished at the start, with a little venturing up each side, and not very far at that. Funny really, as the dam is probably fished the least (except for gudgeon!).

I couldn't resist the opportunity to post this photo of me a while ago on Christmas Day on the dam!

That would be something wouldn't it? New record carp caught through hole in ice. Korda would no doubt bring out the Klonka - a very expensive paint kan full of koncrete on a chain (various chains available at extra kost) to smash holes in the ice (and korner the market in ice fishing accessories) and Adam 'The Prosecutor' Penning would be primed to defend its honour against patent transgressors.
