The latest addition Chez AshbyCut ... and one of which I had been previously unaware ...

Precision Rods “R. Sealey’s Coronation.” 13ft. 6in., 3 piece rod of Spanish Reed butt, reed spliced to whole cane centre section, and whole cane spliced to split cane tip. I'm guessing that the age of the rod is hinted at in it's name ... so can be precisely dated as 1953.

The problem for Fatty with wooden rods of this length is the weight.....they really are too heavy to hold for any length of time.

11ft rods are manageable, just about any longer and the Mole has arm ache.

As 'Precision Rods' came into being just after WW2 ... and ceased in about 1984 ... So I think there's only one possibility.

Another fine acquisition Mal.

I have had two Coronation rods in the past, one was a solid glass spinner by Henry Aitkin, the other was a fly rod by Westley Richards. I wonder how many more were made by other companies.

Nice acquisition, particularly as it was previously an unknown model. How many more will come out of the woodwork I wonder? I suppose this must be the joy of collecting a particular brand.
Is it going to be restored?

I have a rod that is dated/inscribed 1953 which I call my coronation rod.
