Speedia - Any views ?

Hi
I am in the process of sorting through all my gear ( I really never knew I had this much !) and came across a Speedia reel. I have had the reel for a while and when I got it Nobby kindly worked his magic on it to at least make it functional . It wobbles a bit but spins nicely and will be fine for a spot of fishing . Does anyone have any opinions on using this make and model of reel ? I was going to give it a go with carp and perhaps barbel in mind . Its now been cleaned oiled and has new 8lb line on it ...just waiting for the chance to use it . lets hope soon ! Stay safe all !

Excellent reels. I prefer them to Rapidex or Trudex reels.
They spin forever and require little in the way of maintenance.
I have a wide drum deluxe loaded with 12lb line for barbel fishing and a narrow drum loaded with 6 lb line for general river fishing. My wide drum has a plastic 3d printed arbour and I will get a narrow arbour when and if they become available.
They are good workhorse reels, I can't fault them.

Paint job aside cracking reel - I prefer the wide drum but own a couple of narrow as well - you just cannot go wrong with them.

Excellent reels, wide or narrow, with or without arbor filler.

What he said although I do like Garry's version 'The Wensum' and these are great value for money from another English maker.
