Thanks to Macman’s website I’ve now found that the Avon Royal Eagle is late 1970’s. ( Not sure what the reference is to a plastic backing. Unless it’s inserted into the alloy ?)
I was only a bit out in my estimate then!

Doesn't everyone have a fantasy of fishing with Kylie and Rita Hayworth?

I bought this 3.5inch Jecta Orlando from a neighbour for the princely sum of £5.00.I drilled new holes in the reel foot to bring the reel closer to my hand.I cut the T piece off the check lever as it kept getting in the way.The spool was topped up with cork intended for model railway track before putting on 8lb line. The reel wobbles and has a fair bit of end float but I intend using it for Barbel, when my Wallis casting falls apart I can pop the spool on the front and cast it like a fixed spool. It will get its first outing in a couple of weeks when I visit the Severn.Should be fun!

I'll put some more pictures of my Big Pikers up tomorrow.

(Kylie may take a tad longer to arrange . . . ).
