Mystery Rod from Milwards

I obtained this rod a few weeks ago in a parcel of cane rods.
It is @ 10.5’ long, in three pieces, all split cane. The style could be described as “robust”.

The rod was received in the condition as shown, so I do not know the model, it looks as if it was prepared for a refurbishment.

The fittings are of good quality, the reel fitting is where as it would be on a salmon rod, but the action is too stiff to cast a fly in my opinion, and shortish for a salmon rod.

Maybe a light sea rod or a heavy salmon spinner, anyone know this model?

Regards Tom

Hi Olly,
Thank you for the catalogue link.
The rod is very similar to Milwards models from the 40’s and 50’s for pike fishing and salmon spinning, as seen from the lists of that era.
I cannot find an exact match due to the position of the reel seating, but apparently Milwards would supply the purchaser a rod to ones particular specifications, as required.

All the best, Tom.
