The Early Years Of The Mitchell Fishing Reel

My friend Rolands Babulis has written a very in-depth and informative book on the early Mitchell reels, and has asked me to mention it on the forum, which I am now doing with Mark's kind permission.

The book will be available as a luxury limited edition and also as a standard edition.

It will be published by Bernard Caminade,so you can see it has a good pedigree and all details are available from Bernard on this e-mail caminade.b@wanadoo.fr

I am lucky enough to have read a proof version of the book, and can tell you it is fascinating and I now feel a lot more confident in identifying early Mitchells.

Rolands really is an expert.

Best wishes

Roger

I have an earlier (and treasured) edition of Rolands Book 'The Early Years Of The Mitchell Fishing Reel', and on my initial read through the first few pages, it quickly became apparent that the author is extremely passionate about these early Mitchell reels and knows his subject intimately.

His knowledge and attention to detail is remarkable, and it was nice to see that he respectfully presents his research and the findings/opinions of other respected historians, allowing the reader to draw their own conclusions (I understand he has an enviable collection of some of the most desirable early reels, and therefore has been able to provide us with some really good trend analysis).

The book is nicely laid out and organised (see earlier posts in this thread), with a plethora of wonderful detailed photos and accompanied descriptions (it has helped me to understand a lot more about the early reels in my own small collection, and once in my hands, I find it a difficult book to put down again... every time).

Highly recommended!
