If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

If only it is that easy on some rivers! Excellent viewing - of salmon fishing in the '50s.

Thanks John, I enjoyed that! I’ve gently beached Bass for catch and return without completely removing it from the water but not seen a Salmon beached - though I assume that was destined for the pot!
