Antique 1923 Chester 9ct rose gold and enamel fishing medal/pocket watch fob

Post by Barbelseeker »

Don't know if the right place to post, but know that some of us/you may wear tweeds and perhaps a gold watch - just seen a 1923 gold fob inscribed with a fisherman at one of the auction houses at Warrington.

Personally, I think it a bit overpriced at £260 opening bid ( 9ct gold scrap is about £15/g so that gives it a gold value of £195 or thereabouts) and I'd ask the auctioneer if the enamelling is original - seems a bit amateurish - and its also inscribed on the back. RH -

Plus you'd have to add the 30% commission onto that.

Mark - remove if not appropriate

It does seem a bit overpriced. The enamelling is typical and may be viewed as "naïve" due to their small size. Personally I think they are great.

If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

Nice collection Fred, I'm into mechanical watches and a few Masonic fobs.
