Post by Tizer »

I have used one for 30 odd years, it works perfect for me.

I have one but my eyes are not good enough for small hooks any longer.
I do use those loop tying hooks for hooks to nylon loop to loop.
They have a good disgorger at the other end,
I think they were a couple of pounds for two from Amazon, strongly recommend them.

The all yellow thing is also my go to disgorger.
The black and yellow thing is a small disgorger and the knot picker is useful to have in your bag.

The Hooktyer is definitely one of the better fishermans gadgets. I like to tie my hooks direct to the mainline and now my dexterity is getting well past its use by date, the hooktyer is the perfect solution.

Now, that throws up another question......
I tend to use a lower bs line for my hook links incase I need to pull for a break, my reasoning is that you don’t risk leaving a long length of line on the water.
....or am I over thinking it.

I usually find the line parts at the knot. The fewer the knots the less you lose.

Excellent piece of kit. However nowadays, when using one, I have to wear a contraption from Orvis that effectively gives me a pair of magnifying glasses to allow me see what I am doing.
