Wooden rod butt buttons

Another find while wandering a local vide grenier was this bag of cask stoppers for €3. I think they're oak and decided that they might make nice rod butt buttons.
I had a length of 3/8" BSF threaded rod left over from a previous project so I had all I needed for the job.
I fitted the cask stopper in my lathe and drilled a 10mm hole as centralised as possible (with my limited skill!). I then cut a suitable length of the threaded rod which was glued in with 2 part epoxy. Once that had gone off I filed down the end of the threaded rod and checked that the thread would screw into a rod end cap.
I had an old landing net threaded cap which I put in the lathe chuck. The cask stopper was then screwed into this and turned to shape before finishing with sandpaper and sanding sealer.
