Roach-Rudd hybrid? Mind you, I ought to come clean and add that, despite listening to every DaceAce film on the subject, I still find them more varied and more difficult to identify then anything else, so they tend to be my default setting for fish I’m not sure about!

All the biggest ones today had tails just like that.
The big Roach I used to catch there over ten years ago were all old warriors and looked as you'd expect

That tail is just like an African tiger fish's, ergo it's a tigerroach.

Did it have big teeth?

On a couple the back fin appears slightly farther back in the photo - with one or two a straight line from pelvic to back fin. Just an illusion?

A nice fish, whatever its parentage might be. :Hat:
Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’
