Hello from Kidderminster.
Hello every one,
My name is John Phillips, I live in Kidderminster, Worcestershire and I am just getting into the joys of 'classic' fishing. I am 58 years old and lucky enough to have been married to a wonderful lady, Sue, for 34 years, who is just as into fishing as I am. I have just bought her a Allcocks cane rod so I am in the process of converting her to proper fishing.
I was told about the forum by the gentleman I bought my rods from.
I am currently using two Cane rods, a 1925 Hardy No2 Corbett 9' spinning rod and a 1926 Hardy 10' Perfection fly rod. I also have 3 not quite so old reels, a Hardy Hardex No2 MkII, a J W Young and son Ambidex No1 circa 1950 and also the Ambidex No4 circa 1950's.
I'm having some traditional floats hand made for me, I have a hand crafted new vintage (Crabtree) style landing net made from ash and brass but with 'legal' netting plus a cane handle to go with it. There is more to come but I am still selling what is left of my modern tack, sorry, tackle
There is not much I can offer the forum at the moment other than lots of enthusiasm and a desire to learn.
Best wishes, stay safe, John Phillips.

Welcome aboard John.
Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’

A warm welcome from North Worcestershire - as you are based in Kidderminster do you fish the White Swan Piscatorials Water at Winterfold by any chance?

Hello and thank you.PershoreHarrier wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 6:20 pm A warm welcome from North Worcestershire - as you are based in Kidderminster do you fish the White Swan Piscatorials Water at Winterfold by any chance?
Yes I am from Kidderminster but I do not fish the Piscatorials. I am a member of the BAA and currently spread my fishing trips between the Severn at Arley, the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal and my bosses fishing lake.

Welcome to the forum John. I have fished at Arley a few times over the years along with most of the BAA stretches
