Only one I have ever caught.

Post by Caneforme »

This is the 2nd heaviest fish I have ever caught. Lovely looking fish but did not put up much of a fight until he/she noticed the landing net, however once on the unhooking mat he/she went all SAS Ninja on me!

I did not know what sort of fish he/she was so took these photo's to look it up when I got home. The most Chub like looking Carp I have ever seen.

John :)

Possibly a grass carp.
They don't fight until netted. Then the gloves are off and you end up unhooking it in the next county.

I've only caught one or two grass carp and that was many years ago ( although I don't often fish specifically for carp) and I was just wondering if there are many grass carp about, these days ?

I was not fishing for Carp, just light tackle for Silvers. I had a size 20 hook on 2lb line so I was glad he swam into the net before he kicked off. I am lucky enough to be able to fish on my bosses (and long time friends) lake. I use chopped worm and maggot and catch anything from tiny roach right up to 9 lb Carp. I just cast out my float and wait to see what bites, which is what I do any where I fish.
