Altex question

Post by OhMyGoodness »

I just got an Altex No.3 Mk.V. It has no AR switch, however there is no anti-reverse in its use. The handle turns, very smoothly, in both directions. Is this a fault or not?

Sounds like the anti reverse pawl has been removed, often done by mistake when people remove the screw on the side of the reel which holds it. If this is the case the pawl and spring may be still inside the reel.

Wal.

Or it's been deliberately removed so fish can be played by back- winding rather than relying on the clutch.
I've done it with mine.
In order to shoot some close-ups, wildlife photographer ,the late Len Scapstillon, lured the orca to him by dressing as a seal.......
