New Member from Durham
Good afternoon
A courtesy note to say hello to the forum.
After a 20 plus year injury enforced hiatus I am starting to plan my return to the bank, mainly after seeing the joy fishing brought to my granddaughter (who turned 5 years old today …. And yes, of course I bought her a rod and reel). In the past I float fished exclusively, on rivers only, in Kent and Cambridgeshire mainly, with a few more exotic locations thrown in whilst serving abroad. Living a mile away from the river Wear since one month before lock-down, (great timing!), I hope to return to the same methods and venue type (although free sections of the Wear around Durham seem a thing of the past).
I have a MARCO Arun elasticane (12 ft) which has been in the family since new. It used to be paired with a small Alcock trotting “pin”, or an old Mitchell on occasions. Alas, I gave the Mitchells away many moons ago, the centrepin reel is in need of attention after 20 years in storage and the afore mentioned injury means my left arm isn’t quite up to scratch either. However, I am about to take delivery of a Harrier 120m closed face, which I am hoping with practice I will be able to use one handed, more or less.
Being 100% self taught, and very “rusty” I fear I am likely to take up more time asking questions than offering sage like advice, so apologies in advance.
I am honoured to meet you all.
Tight lines,
Sincerely
Paul

Welcome aboard!
I was a member of Durham City AC for a few years, when I visited relatives, and fished their waters regularly. Until the Covid.
A nice bit of river with chub, dace, grayling, roach plus game fish - salmon, sea trout and trout.

Welcome to the TFF Incubus We have a few members from your area, and it's always nice to see new northern members. The Wear is a river I intend to explore in the future. Its long been regarded as an exceptional sea trout river by UK standards but I'd also like to see it's potential for coarse species
