DAM 550N clutch service....
Hi, is there anyone in the UK who services DAM reels as the clutch on the 550 I have just got from Germany is not working. Depending on which way one turns the spool the clutch either tightens until its solid or becomes so loose the tightening cap on the front of the spool falls off. I have contacted the seller to explain the problem but if I can get it sorted over here I would rather take that route.
Thanks

Thinking about my problem, If I purchase a new spool for the reel, that should sort the problem. Yes or No??
Thanks

On my 330N, the entire clutch mechanism is within the spool....so yes...a new spool would fix the problem (and let you take apart the malfunctioning one to see what is wrong).

I have ordered a brand new spool, so hopefully that will solve the problem.

At the very least you will be able to find out what it should look like!BoltonBullfinch wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 2:52 pm I have ordered a brand new spool, so hopefully that will solve the problem.

I have a similar issue with an Altex but without a schematic or another reel to copy I am a bit stuffed!

Re: DAM 550N clutch service....
Sadly the new spool arrived with all the clutch parts rattling around in the plastic bag. So still looking for some reel tech who can sort the two clutches out.BoltonBullfinch wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 2:52 pm I have ordered a brand new spool, so hopefully that will solve the problem.

Not familiar with the early DAM reels but if you can post up some clear pictures of what you have then I'll try and help? Sounds like parts assembled in the wrong order or even missing completely? Most drags are a series of stainless and oiled felt/cork/carbon washers. Failing that PM me your email/WhatsApp details mate

I found this while digging around on the web-it is for a Quick 110 but hopefully the clutch parts are similar.

The Quick „N“ series are different from the older series without the N. I can offer to check on my 110N but it all comes down to a picture showing your parts to guide you through the correct assembly…
