Rolling feeders

Post by Troydog »

Following DaceAce’s excellent vid on rolling feeders for roach Ive been trying to make lightweight ones under 10 grams to hold fine breadcrumb.Image
This one is a coil of wire with a 2 gram post office lead. Ill try it this afternoon…..
Trouble is, the fish just don't read the books......

Let the good times roll. That looks very effective.

Take the weight off your normal cage feeder and add a dead cow of 1/2 oz! £3 for 10 plus PP.

Replace/save the old weights for later.

Conversely - add a heavy dead cow to make the feeder stick on the bottom.

Thank you gents. I took the new feeder to the Wye, assembled the Drennan Acolyte quiver, but sadly,Image I just could not put the float rod down!!!

I'm not surprised and certainly don't blame you as float trumps tip anytime in my book Tim! Another way of thinking on this subject is the addition of buoyancy rather the removal of lead. A friend of mine uses rings of cork/ foam formed to fit his standard feeders :Hat:

Many thanks gentlemen. Great feedback as always but i don't know what a dead cow is? I use 10 gram Black Cap feeders Liphook but I had never thought about counteracting this weight with foam or cork.
The picture above shows a metal coil that weighs 2 grams plus a post office lead that also weighs two grams. I am looking to make a range of small feeders that weigh less than 10g and I have several swims in mind, depending on the water levels…..

A dead cow is a lead weight you can add to a feeder - they look somewhat like a splayed out dead cow - you bend the tabs of lead ('legs') to attach to your feeder

Tim fished the Wye so he's only used to dead sheep.

Well these are tiny dead animals lying on their back with either 2 or 4 legs in the air - very useful in everyone's - (well those that use feeders) - tacklebox! From 1/2oz to 4 or 5oz for floods.
