I sent that in to the angling times and won a box of plastic artificial baits

Sorry Peter, had no idea!
I am sure I must have read the link at some time , but my little grey cells that held the information must have been ejected to make room for more stuff .

I must say that the “ paste “ sounds to have all sorts of possibilities though .

I may have to have a bait making session myself .

Cheers Terry

Cheap doughy white bread has always worked well for me, floating, or otherwise, when after carp. Smaller bits, made to look something like a maggot have accounted for a number of smaller fish. There are a couple of friendly robins that also help out with clearing up the crumbs and leftovers.
I have sometimes used the juice from local blackberries to make the bread more interesting, but chilli sounds like something I should try this year as well. Thanks for the tip.

I seem to remember that Archie Braddock, recommended fruity flavours for summer and Autumn and spicy flavours for Winter.

I used bread paste in the late '50s following the what the local bream anglers were doing. I remember custard powder being used for that yellow tinge!
They were probably getting their ideas from "Faddist's" Book of Baits and Groundbaits first published in 1950! An excellent book for TFFers using cane!
