A brace of Roach, 8lb....

Post by BoltonBullfinch »

Nothing at all traditional about this, but a brace of Roach have been landed in the same session that totaled 8lb in weight. One weighed 3.14 and the other 4.2. There is a Drennan video on youtube about the capture. Very modern tackle, modern techniques and a modern angler, but just plow through and watch a sight that probably has never been seen before, and may never be seen again.

Enjoy, I did....

Thanks
BB

Staggering isn’t it! The previous best brace I knew of was 3lbs 15oz and 3lbs 8oz by Colin Gibson at Ibsley on the Avon. They were caught trotting I believe!

Edit: presumably this is the lake at South Cerney?

Just watched the video.I'd assumed(wrongly)they had been caught by a carp angler. How good that the angler had been fishing for Roach.Although modern gear was used the time and dedication reqd is immense. Many congrats to the captor. The stuff dreams are made of.

Colin's brace is the best from a river but Keith Berry claimed a brace of 4-3 and 3-12 (2006) from the same Northern Ireland stillwater that produced his record. See the big roach list in Big Roach.

Probably one of the greatest brace of fish ever caught in this country.
