Set to record unless you're an insomniac for Talking Pictures - show on Allcocks tackle through the night 4.40am.

If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

For those, like me, who missed this programme ... I have emailed Talking Pictures TV asking if and when they are intending to reschedule this film.

I will, of course, let members know as soon as I have their reply !!! Fingers firmly crossed !!!

As I thought might be the case, filmed in 1953 when the Queen's Coronation saw televisions numbers in private houses increase hugely.

Nice to see film of Tom Boswell at 4 minutes in.

I'm fairly certain stills from this clip were used in the 1953 Allcock's Guide.

Allcocks had made up mandrels to offer a whole range of glass-fibre rods, made by Tony Croft incidentally, but they dropped the whole range except the Match Special and the KBX Kastlite, which are some of the rarest rods they ever made, today.

Tony Croft thought they were mad to discontinue the other rods......he was probably right. In ten years time they were on their uppers and looking for a way out....another six year and they were gone forever.......
