Hi, new member just signing in. I’m not necessarily a traditional fisherman in the true sense. I fish, mostly with modern equipment but often in a traditional style. I’m happy float fishing, even happier if it involves the lift method for tench. I’m happy with a ledger especially a light link ledger or even no lead at all rolling a lump of meat or cheese for chub and barbel.
I grew up on the banks of the Upper Severn but now live nearer to its estuary. Most autumn/winters will find me predator fishing somewhere along its lower reaches. Summer barbel see me heading north to the middle and upper stretches or occasionally to the Wye. Unfortunately my now local Bristol Avon is a shadow of its former self.
I mentioned most of my tackle is of the modern kind but I have an interest in the more traditional items. I’ve recently repaired or made usable (rather than restored) an old rod and reel my Dads. This summer I intend to try and catch as many species as possible with it and perhaps relive a little of my youth.
