Abshot Crucian

Fatty went to Abshot yesterday taking young Phil as he wanted to catch a Crucian.

Swims baited, tackle Hardy Perfection Roach and Wilson Heritage pin and Waggler, for pellet on the drop.

Not a sausage or fish for that matter.

Baits changed to maggots presented on a light pole float. Still nowt.

Pies scoffed and tea slurped whilst thinking what to do. This swim was comfy but no feeding fish as they were just playing with the baits. Ducks and Moorhens were relentless too. Just as the fish were getting interested, in would come the avian thugs to upset the fish!

After a few hours of this the message got through to the functioning brain cell......time to move.

At least young Phil had a few roach in his swim to keep him occupied, so he was reasonably happy.

The move to another swim proved a good one.

First bite and a roach of over a pound was on the bank but released without his portrait as Fatty had his cru hat on. Mainly because the purveyor of tackle and grubs had intimated that the Crucian Carp were too difficult to catch by someone like the Mole as he assumed that the skill level would be lacking mainly because float fishing was the only way fished. You know not serious ledgering styles...

..a wrong assumption my friend!

Red rag to a bull that sort of talk.

Next fish was a perch of 12ozs. Nice but no portrait as it was Cru, Cru, Barney Magrew etc or bust!

It was at this juncture Fatty had an inspired thought,

Why not fish the pellet on a short banded hair in combo with two red grubs on the hook.....why not indeed. So he did.......

Happy days but overloaded with more joy:

That's one in the eye of Mr Tackle Shop...ha!

But not to be selfish, time to invite young Phil to fish the swim. After showing how, what and where, Fatty
left him to it. Moving along, some lovely Rudd fell for the float and came to see a grinning pie eater.

Packing swiftly, it always takes at least half an hour nowadays looking over to young Phil he was still on the Cru El Blanco. (See the clever play with Cru El.....genius or what?)

Walking round it was obvious the fish were still feeding but not taking his bait. Fiddling with the shot and float to no avail, Phil decided to give it best. Maybe another day for young Phil.

Pub o'clock, several pints of local beer slurped whilst discussing the events of the day.

On our return there were two wives :Scared: to face, double the jeopardy for the two heroes, especially as young Phil was late for a booked table in a restaurant.

What sort of idiot books a table for 1815hrs when their spouse is fishing....yup wives do!

Do they do it deliberately?

These questions need to be asked....preferably from a safe distance :Hat:

As ever,....

Did Phil's meal have a starter of pieces of raw vegetables possibly with a dip?

That Mr Mole, is next level punning. :eyebrow:

Sometimes Fatty has to utilise his single, functioning brain cell to catch..... that's why fishing is still of interest.

As for your next level punning Dave,is that a sample of your sense of humous?

See what I did there?

Ha.

Many thanks for the kind words Ted and young Wally Boy........always welcome.

Even Dave makes comments about the write ups that are good for a laugh but he remains a very naughty boy.

As ever ......
