Hi all,

I'm make a couple of trout nets for some friends as Christmas gifts. Anybody know of a high quality mesh supplier. I've used snowbee before but I'd prefer something thay doesn't hang so low. If rather buy off the shelf rather than having to adapt something. MUST be knotless approx 110cm circumference.

Snowbee sell a very good and complete range of replacement nets in many different sizes; all knotless of course by law.

They stock both welded mesh and the rubberised ones..

https://www.snowbee.co.uk/webshop/fly-f ... ding-nets/

They are quite deep but you can easily trim them down from the top to suit.

Hope this helps..

Thanks WM+. Those rubber ones look just the job. Also a quick question if may - have you ever used mahogany for the (steam) bent hoop. It'd use ash but I've got some nice poplar burr for the handle and I'd like to contrast it. Also been offered mahogany 1. 3/4" x 1. 3/4" x 5' 10" for £1 a length!

I have the Snowbee rubber versions on a couple of nets and find they are short in depth - more 'match' type style than 'specimen' type. I will look and see if I can identify the net's size.

Thanks Olly, that'd be much appreciated.

Its probably cheaper and easier to buy modern net heads and use the mesh from them. There are some nice green and bronze coloured nets available from the usual manufacturers these days.

Tried to find their spare rubber nets without success on Snowbee's pages!

However my previous supplier has some - they look exactly like the Snowbee one I purchased - on eBay.
Circumference and their depth are shown!! V Fly nets they are called.
