Mercy! What a fantastic looking body. The colors of each material compliment one another.

Well done Ian.

A little tidbit, instead of using your thumb or fingernail to strip the herl, you can use an eraser. I find it to be a bit easier.

I wouldn’t use the stripped herl body on many flies iasgair, but I do like it for the body of the olive :Hat:

Did you use a resin on the body? I couldn't tell.

No iasgair,I’ve not applied anything to the body. I don’t personally bother because our rivers are slow enough to fish down and across, and It would possibly go too deep. I want this fishing 2 or 3 inches under the surface max. I will be able to catch plenty of fish before it gets wrecked too.
Of course it’s all down to personal choice and maybe with the fast pace of your rivers and hard taking trout,a bit of resin or varnish would help.
Don’t cast doubt,cast out.
