Morning All, Just wondering if anyone's come across the above Miward's rod? A previously unknown model to me, but I acquired one in Peterborough on Tuesday. Needs a new coat of varnish and a bit of a tidy. I'm wondering if it was designed as a junior rod as it seems like a light all-rounder. Regards Cat

Could be Rod, but it's very thin in the top section.

Found one sold at auction in 2021 - a 7ft 6in version. Lot 1945 amongst a few angling things.

I think it depends upon how old it is.

Looking back in time there were Game rods - spinning or fly. Coarse rods seem to be in the minority until the '30s when coarse fish were started to be 'accepted' in the angling community. Barbel, pike and the uncatchable carp - along with roach - seeming to at the front of the queue.

Many fish being taken to the weekly club meeting - dead and in a bag of some sort - to show their catches. Most probably ended up with the cat!

Where 8ft ledger rods made before the WWII? Where there any quiver tip or swingtip rods prior to the 1950s? Avon rods starting perhaps with Wallis and Hardy.
