It was Mick Payne and the column was just my diary on the Upper River Witham.

I remember your column, Mick.
The Angling Star had a very good team of writers at the time. Yourself, Dave tipping, Martin Reade, Mike Townsend, and Bill Winship to name just a few.
Hope you are keeping well, Mick.

I wrote as Mick Payne, just ramblings about my bit of river, the Upper Witham.

Seem to have posted my answer twice. Thanks for your comment, shortly after AS went under I had to give up the bailiff position to care for my partner who had early onset Alzheimer's, then we set off on a 5 month road trip with a bike and sidecar. I had cancer treatment a while ago and haven't fished for some time but joining this forum has really kick started my interest again, in fact I'm making a couple of porky quill floats as I type. I'm sure I recognise your name from The Path by the Water?
