Based on the above I treated myself to a copy of this book. I met Frank a few times at book launches and he told me about his unpublished 'warts and all' autobiography which this most definitely isn't but have to say I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. My book got dinged in the post which is a shame. A couple of absolute howlers in the text: one writing musing of Walker's record carp making the front page of Angling Times - wrong year as Walker caught his carp in 52 and AT started in 53 (it was certainly in The Angler's News), and another writer saying Frank was Walker's progeny - he meant prodigy.

Protege, surely? (Don't know how to do accents on this... anyhow, it's French, and has a couple of slopey bits on top to prove it.

Occasionally you get someone who was both: Phil Coles was a prodigy as well as a protégé of Ivan Marks.

Indeed, apparently. I remembered the name, but he rose to fame just as I was giving up any hope of taking match fishing up seriously. Googled him and found the story - Yours, good Sir - on the CRT site. A sad ending.

Anyway, Swottypants, how did you access ze accents? Je suis dead impressed!
