Hi All ,
I have joined your happy band this morning and wanted to say hello , i have recently discovered the joy / addiction of traditional rods and reels , only have a couple so far but i am sure the collection will grow.
I am the proud owner of a Sealy Octofloat and am currently coupling it with a Mitchell 300a with an occasional go at my Rapidex centre pin although really new to this style and making it look really tricky lol.
I fish with the PDAS in Hampshire so river wise i enjoy The Wallington and The Hamble and my favourite stillwater is Abshot which is a true Crucian water.
My Octofloat will hopefully get its full debut this week at a local moat fishery (Sultan ) targeting some of the lovely Tench - updates to follow

Welcome aboard Sean to the very slippery slope that is vintage fishing tackle.
If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

I have an Octofloat De Luxe, as from yesterday! An amazing find in a charity shop, and it seems not to have been used much. I've been getting as much rust as I can off a couple of rings and also persuading the ferrules to fit right in. There is a bit of corrosion inside the female ferrules as you might expect from a rod that has probably not been used for decades. The smaller ferrule now fits nicely but the larger one still has about an eighth of an inch to go. I don't want to force it or I might not be able to separate the sections, but I'm itching to use the rod!
