Hi guys from Perth Western Australia
A 55 year veteran of this thing we called fishing, well I call it relaxing sometimes when the fish are not playing the game...lol
Lived in Perth Western Australia now for some 33 years and still a keen fisherman when time allows in between work commitments.
Over the years we amass fishing tackle that sometimes just gather dust in a corner of a room or a shelf in a shed waiting to be used again so here to gain knowledge on refurbishment of rods, reels and all things tackle.
My main interest is vintage carp rods, reels and bite alarms pre-golden age of the 80,s explosion of fancy gear so to say, let,s say pre-hair rig and bait-runner days.
On that note thank you for accepting me into your group of likeminded traditionalists..cheers
Take care
Paul

Welcome Paul, this is a fantastic corner of the interweb.
Don't they kill carp as an invasive species in Australia?

Cheers mate.....Sad but true Cat in some states, in other states were you can not relocate them but return them but only to the waterway that they came from, me personally run with, there is not a court in the land that will prosecute you for NOT wanting to kill and animal..Deaf Cat wrote: Mon Sep 25, 2023 9:37 pm Welcome Paul, this is a fantastic corner of the interweb.

There was a case some years ago in South Australia that was thrown out of court for wasting taxpayers monies by a judge on such a thing, that the fisherman was against killing any type of animal or fish....

Welcome Paul, I am sure that you will enjoy the forum! I have spent much of the British Winter in Perth for the last twenty years (apart from two 'Covid' years), as my Daughter lives there!

Welcome Paul, enjoy the ride, there's plenty of interesting folk and tackle talk to keep you going for years!
As an add on.. I have a good few Alvey reels, made in Australia.

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!
