Bennetts of Sheffield
I'm passing on some of my old catalogues and here are three early Bennetts of Sheffield.
They are post free to the highest bidder with the payment going to Mark directly towards his expenses.

Re: Bennetts of Sheffield
Hi Phil, Excellent! I remember going to Bennetts when I arrived in Sheffield as a student (aka 'Studie b******), and receiving a lecture on why fishing was the sport of the working class man...I'd only gone in for some bait. I'll start the bidding with a tenner. Regards Cat

Thanks for the offer Cat. I'll leave this a little longer. They are in very good condition considering they are fifty years old.

Re: Bennetts of Sheffield
I'll offer £15 Phil, Bennett's were certainly a part of my early days and I loved to look around their shops.
Money donated to the TFF, that sounds good.

Re: Bennetts of Sheffield
I've found two more Bennetts catalogues to pass on to members. I presume these follow on from the others I posted so 1976 and 1977.
As before highest bidder, I'll cover the postage with the payment going to Mark.

Bennetts!! My first 300, which I still use, came by mail order from them in 1972. For some reason their next to last shop premises on The Wicker in Sheffield has remained unoccupied (and now derelict) since they left 20 years ago: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.38645 ... ?entry=ttu
Here's the last place just round the corner where they finally gave up the struggle in 2012: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.38710 ... ?entry=ttu.

Re: Bennetts of Sheffield
The second of those is the Stanley Street address that they used in the 1970s, so they must have moved back there. I think they used that as a stock warehouse for the shop on The Wicker, never actually gave it up and moved all their operations back there when they had their brief period of being online only. The building that held the shop on Howard Street, the one most Sheffielders remember them by, is still there, has avoided the fate of most of that area and has not been buried under academic institutional ugliness: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.37886 ... ?entry=ttuStathamender wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 9:57 pm Bennetts!! Not going to sell this because one of my lad’s favourite trips into Sheffield led us to the top of Howard Street…
