Hello from South Wales
Hello All
A new member from Barry here, chuffed to have found this excellent forum. A lifelong coarse angler, with occasional forays into fly and sea fishing. Drawn to old tackle due to a mixture of nostalgia, familiarity, simplicity, and existing ownership! Currently mostly use an old Shakespeare fibreglass rod (an 11ft Travelmatch) but am keen to learn about cane rods, about which I currently know very little. Reel wise, I use a Mitchell Match I got for my birthday in 1972, and a couple of StrikeRight centrepins. So that's me. Look forward to reading and engaging in the inspiring natter in here.

Hello and welcome to the Forum. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the experience! Plenty of knowledgeable people, so any question(s) will get an answer or two - normally.
I use cane rods and a variety of reels - pins and fixed spool on a small lake containing Carp and Rudd.
For info, I have four “new” Strike Rights still in their boxes, never used.

Oh to be at my “Happy Place” where nothing matters but the being there.

Welcome BW from a Welshman in exile! A Swansea resident for 66 years. I used to travel quite a lot but never really fished around Barry. Roath Park was a regular venue for me in the Seventies, mainly for the matches and the banter with the Cardiff Nomads. In more recent times some illicit sessions on Hensol Lake after the fabulous Tench it held.

Welcome aboard I suspect that your old tackle will multiply in the coming year.

There are three things that improve with age: wine, friendship and water sense, and there's no short cut.
