Hardy shop and Museum.

The last time I went was probably 20 years ago. There were two men in the shop labelling up some Greys rods. I thought at the time they were probably also removing the made in China stickers.
I visited a local boot sale about ten years ago and a chap there was selling Hardy Bewick reels, if my memory served me right they were £60.00 each. He had dozens of them and it was really strange how people picked them up, give them a quick spin, asked the price then walked away. I thought at the time these probably came from the hardy factoty shop and they just wanted rid of them. I must admit, I wish I had bought a couple.

No new information on the decline of Hardy........

Have to say, I enjoyed "The lost world of Mr Hardy" DVD, although it was released in 2008 and obviously doesn't cover events since this date.

Anyone in a position to give us more information ?

I know someone who lent some very valuable items to the museum. Hardy "lost" some of the items. Value inestimable.

Very concerning, to say the least.
What explanation did Hardy give.
Did they attempt to compensate lenders for their loss ?

They lost them with the courier and yes they paid compensation to the owner. However they were extremely rare and have never been seen again.

Barter books make up for any shortfall in the Hardy museum - I will never forget the surprise as the model train ran past on the top of the bookshelves. And dont forget the (easy not to find) Treehouse Restaurant- really up a tree and very good

All the rods from the old museum were auctioned. I have a fly rod with a certificate of authenticity/provenance. It hung in the rod pattern area and has never been used. It's an 'Itchen', I don't dare use it !

My rod was sold at auction on 18 January 2005 according to the certificate. Sold to Mr David Deacon from Co Durham :-)
