Sounds easy if you say it quickly, but it wasn’t, and it took me over a month, working every day. Various parts went into the scrap bin daily, but slowly, it came together.

Things didn’t go too well to begin with. The backplate was made first, which took all day, only to find I had turned it too thin, and it took its place in the scrap bin, to be followed by other rejected parts as the project continued.

There’s a few of us that have been there… In fact, I have the boxed set, T-shirt and diploma for scrapping metal..and many other materials!

Seriously though, a really wonderful effort and a thoroughly practical and well put together reel of which you should be proud..

…and I take absolutely no credit at all for any part of this project. It all originated in Paul’s mind and is the product of his personal machine skills ( am rather envious of his lathe though) ..

Paul was gracious enough to write and ask if he might copy the check design, but I had no part in this workmanlike reel whatsoever.

A great design and a great result ..Looking forward to seeing a picture of it mounted on one of your own rods beside the first capture.:Thumb:

Well done indeed!

Praise indeed from the Master. I'll raise my offer to £20.

Engineering is like nuclear physics to me, I know it exists but that's about it. I look forward to seeing it in action at the docks one day.

Very nice indeed. I do like reels with a solid Arbor , so much kinder to line than pillars . The finish is superb, understated but quietly elegant. Everybody should have one !

Congratulations on a job well done.
