My mate Dave sent me this picture this morning of a "Chubster" he had just caught from the Crown Fishery on the River lea. It weighs 7lb 15oz.

If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

Certainly a fish of a lifetime. My Avons weigh light. Maybe on other scales it would be over 8lb.
