Absolute insanity

Now then gents, having yesterday attended yet another auction for those suffering from the fetish known as "tackle hunting" I came across a number of centrepins for sale. A very nice virtually unused Match Aerial, a Purist 2 in 5" as new in box and various trudex, maxima's and various new Ikonix / Dragon Carp modern interpretations. What I couldn't believe were the prices... Match Aerial £105 + com, Purist £240! but the best of all, a Dragon Carp "Holland & Wilkinson" centrepin in box and unused. RRP around £50, hammer price £190 + com.

Am I missing something or just going fruit & nut? :Brickwall:

Hi Andy - I reckon the Aerial went quite cheaply if it was as good as you say!

That's the insane bit! The Dragon's egg would've been (one hopes) just two ignorami making egregious eejits of themselves.
( I do hope I can find a few such pairs when I finally de-clutter my cave!)
(And a few pairs of scholars when the Black Cat and Match Aerial go...)

Hi Jim, I thought the Aerial was good value, although I left it alone to treat myself to a very nice original boxed Mitchell 300 with boomerang lever. Set me back £35 along with a 300A. I'd thought the Purist was strong money but had to chuckle when they started going mad over the "asian bling".

I hope the winning bidder didn't grab it up too quickly on winning it because those castings can cut you like a knife!

I picked one up once.....and put it carefully down again, very quickly.

Notice how adult I was not to point out that the Golden Retriever model is a bit of a dog.

The Dragon reel would look very attractive to a novice, its in a beautiful wooden presentation box and is limited edition of 500.
Still available from Dragon at £50,would it make a sound financial investment if people are prepared to pay £200 ?

Is it just me? I never attract idiots when I'm selling stuff - where do you find these people?

I believe it is John.

Somewhat amusing to see the Chinese breaching their own design copyrights rather than another country's for a change :Hahaha:
