Digging up this old thread and hoping Chris Ball spots it....has anyone any knowledge of a five-sided rod built by Dick Walker at this time?

Is it the fabled Mark I ???

Hello Nobby,
I've not run across a reference by Walker of him actually making a five-sided cane rod, do you have any further info? The Mk 1 Walker states as a, ‘Wallis 3-piece spilt cane 11ft rod with about 12-ins cut from its tip’.

Thanks Chris, I had thought the MkII was the shortened Wizard.....got it wrong again. I wonder if it was a pre-war or post-war Wizard he chopped? With the Wallis name there I expect it was a pre-war rod, very light and flexible...not what would land a 44 pound carp easily!

Dick did mention 5-sided rods in Rod Building for Amateurs I'm told. I suppose it follows he might have tried one to see what he thought of the idea....but just when?

Chris, I've e-mailed you with regard to this rod.
