That must be a very early advert indeed if Mr. Walker is signing every one....I think I read he signed only 50 and then they went over to transfers.
First mention I've heard of it as a trotting rod......how could you mend line with a ten foot rod?, or as a boat rod, spinning rod, pike rod or salmon rod..
...or with stand off guides.
Shame the advert doesn't say who's supplying them with the cane at that time, some sources suggest Southwells, others JB Walker in Hythe, Kent.
Perhaps it was the success of these rods that made them think to build their own cane and not give half the profits on sales to ther supplier?

The add is from the first edition of Angling Times ( which was reprinted in this week's 60th Anniversary issue), and so it is a 1953 advert.
